Protect Ohio Public Education
The Attack on Ohio Public Education at the State Board As our students, families, educators, and school districts continue to bravely navigate the challenges and harmful impacts of the pandemic, key state leaders and certain members of the State Board of Education (SBOE) are working to erode public education by superimposing harmful political agendas onto the State Board of Education. Rather than ensuring ALL students receive a high-quality honest education and providing essential support and resources to vulnerable students, these leaders are eroding those supports and unduly influencing State Board operations and priorities. What is Happening to Ohio Public Education? Governor Mike DeWine, Statehouse leaders, and certain State Board members are systematically dismantling vital educational frameworks that build partnerships between families and educators, integrate student wellness into learning, and build pathways for greater academic success. These frameworks also root out inequities, disparities, and abuses that disproportionately harm our Black, Latin X, Brown, Asian, and Indigenous students. Educational Frameworks Under Attack Resolution to Condemn Racism and Advance Equity and Opportunity for Black Students, Indigenous Students, and Students of Color • The Whole Child Framework • Social-Emotional Learning • Each Child Our Future Strategic Plan These attacks have resulted in: Repeal of the Resolution to Condemn Racism and Advance Equity Forced resignations of the State Board President and an appointed member for voting against repealing the Resolution to Condemn Racism and Advance Equity Efforts to remove Social-Emotional Learning in education Plans to remove Equity as a core principle of the Each Child Our Future Strategic Plan Objections to prioritizing anti-racism, equity, student wellness, and student mental health in Ohio public education Learn More About the State Board and Honest Education TAKE ACTION NOW Our students, families, and educators need your help to ensure every student
