Honesty for Ohio Education Coalition Sends Letter to
Gov. DeWine Demanding Fair, Legal
State Board of Education Districts
July 18, 2022 | FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
COLUMBUS - Today, Honesty for Ohio Education, a nonpartisan statewide coalition representing more than 40 organizations, sent a letter to Gov. Mike DeWine calling on him to designate legally compliant State Board of Education districts ahead of the August 10, 2022, candidate filing deadline.
The letter notes that the districts designated in DeWine’s January 2022 letter are not compliant with state law and could prohibit the members elected to the districts he designated from accurately reflecting and adequately serving the diverse needs of Ohio’s students, families and communities.
The letter details the ways in which the currently designated districts fall short in both fairness and legality, and asks DeWine to immediately take the steps needed to bring the districts into compliance with Ohio Revised Code. Read the letter HERE.
